KA Goal of the Year (1) Bobby Bartlet
t

Without doubt Bobby has scored some magnificent goals this year, whether it be under pressure or just messing around. His audacious and brash chip against Michael Belsham secured 40% of the votes in a clear margin over the other goals, with Tim Jackson's superb skill and fantastic shot with his weaker foot trailing, with Glyn Trebble's cheeky backheel (twice in two years!) against Andrew Jackson in the KKC11 final came third.

MKA Goal of the Year (3) Brothers of Destruction

The MKA's first year had no expectations - though they quickly surpassed them with ease. The team of the Enns brothers (Alex and Chad) combined and produced a wonderfully crafted goal, with Alex chipping it over his opponent, only for Chad to execute a perfectly timed header to score one of many in that match. In second place came Mark Siemens with his skillful & (what we hope) purposeful chip that seemed to hang in the air for a long time. In third place quite a number of nominations racked up a single vote to draw. You can decide what your third place is.

KA Worst Miss (1) Chris Ford

Alas, with all of these fantastic goals, comes the other end of the scale, where horrendous misses are unfortunately screened to the world wide web. It's even worse in person. When Chris Ford missed an absolute sitter of a goal against Andrew Jackson, the world erupted in fury and disgust. You voted for that to be your 'KA Miss of the Season', folks. Don't forget to throw some tomatoes either. Bobby Bartlett's incredible miss in his high-pressure title game against Stewart van Nieuwkerk came joint second with Faff McFaff (aka Jorge Townsend)'s exhibition of how to miss a blatant opportunity. Some shockers there, people.
  1. 1 - CHRIS FORD v Andrew Jackson (KA League 2011) Votes: 11
  2. 2 - BOBBY BARTLETT v Stewart van Nieuwkerk (KA League 2011) Votes: 4
  3. 3 - JORGE TOWNSEND v Craig Mercer (KA League 2011) Votes: 4
  4. 4 - CHRIS FORD v Bobby Bartlett (KA League 2011) Votes: 3
  5. 5 - ANDREW JACKSON v Craig Mercer (KA League 2011) Votes: 0

MKA Worst Miss (1) Marshall Janzen

This might not be fair, but Marshall Janzen's terrible miss in his game against Mark Siemens was the MKA's first ever official game. Still, no excuse. If that backheel hit, he would have redeemed himself from the shameful step outside MKA HQ. In second, Mitch Janzen displayed a terrible miss, and in third came poor Chad Enns, who missed terribly.
  1. 1 - MARSHALL JANZEN vs. Ryan Klassen (MKA League 2011) Votes: 6
  2. 4 - MITCH JANZEN vs. Seth Joyal (MKA League 2011) Votes: 3
  3. 2 - CHAD ENNS vs. Melissa Favell (MKA League 2011) Votes: 2
  4. 5 - SETH JOYAL vs. Melissa Favell (MKA League 2011) Votes: 1
  5. 3 - FLEET SAVE vs. Awesome Shenanigans (MKA Dual Annihilation 2011) Votes: 0

So that's the ones you all voted for, here are the ones us in the upper echelons of FIKA voted for!

KA Player of the Year Stewart van Nieuwkerk

You'd call producing a record unbeaten run, semi-final appearance and a Koneball title a good season wouldn't you? Well Stewart van Nieuwkerk done just that this season. He has demonstrated supreme skill and commitment to his game to get his hands on a Koneball title. Unfortunately the last match he played in the league after his 8 match winning streak halted his immense run of success by losing to Bobby Bartlett, however it shouldn't put a dampener on his parade. Fantastic year, fantastic player.

MKA Player of the Year Chad Siemens

Chad was one of the people that made the MKA happen this year, and along with it dominated the league and playoffs, making him the MKA's most successful player this year. With his trademark Siemens bunnyhop, he defeated (nearly) everyone in his path with determination and pure grit, ensuring he was the best player of the year.

FIKA Spirit of Koneball Roman Kulczycki

The Spirit of Koneball award is awarded to the person who has singularly, shown unsurpassed levels of ambition, determination and commitment to Koneball that has positively changed the game for the better.

This year we have awarded the award to a certain Mr. Kulczycki. Initially most of you won't recognise that name on paper, but when he starts to talk, it all starts to click. He often addresses himself as Roman K. Got it yet?

Roman's commentary as the lead role alongside Mitch Janzen in the MKA box has raised the bar for commentary in Koneball and has definitely been a major part in making the videos an exciting thing to watch. His style makes for particularly entertaining listening (and viewing). His trademark, "Kick it to the Kone" has become a household expression to Koneball followers and goes to show how expressive Koneball is.

Roman is a true asset to the MKA, KA, and FIKA. We express our gratitude to him for the time and effort he has invested in the sport we all know and love.

Let me take the opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in Koneball in 2011, whether it be through a player, sponsor (www.aspectsigns.com for the KKC Kone wrap) or organiser. Without you, there would be no Koneball.

HERE'S TO 2012!
