The MKA's Inaugural Year
All in all, I’m 128% certain that the 2011 Innaugural season of the MKA was a complete success. Not only did we actually run events from February all the way to November, but they were actually FIKA sanctioned events in which winning actually counted for something.
The most exciting aspect for me was the fact we had a few firsts in FIKA. Live commentary for one. That was a brain-child of Roman K., who originally had the idea about a month after we originally started posting videos of the games. I think it was an awesome idea.
There is another great idea that I would say is still in the “development stages” and won’t be used till the MKA returns from it’s off season in March 2012. I think it will be the innovation to the game that will allow for more people to be able to play, but not be required to dedicate themselves to coming to the League games they have to play. This will allow for more part-time players to just show up and challenge others randomly in a well set up year-round competition. The name for this year-round thing is still in the works.
I’m hoping for a ton more new players this year. Now that the MKA is out there, and people have played it, people will be telling their friends, and their friends friends about this. It is a demanding sport, but hey, its fun!
